Last weekend Joe and I set out on the yard sale circuit. Last year I made it a goal to go to 50 yard sales and i went to 39. This year I have upped the goal to 75 yard sales.
The rules for my yard sale tally:
- community yard sales count as one
- church bazaars count as one
- anything with the title "World's Largest" counts as one
- thrift stores do not count
- estate sales count as one
Really, all of these could easily count as five each....but I like a challenge.
So Joe and I kicked off Yard Sale Season 2009 at 9am. Filled our bellies with bagels and headed out. The first was an estate sale...and it did not exist. We just couldn't find it. So we went to an antique store instead. This is what greeted us at the door:
What's that? You want a closer look? Especially you,
Mandi? OK!
Awesome. Gross. Creepy. Care to add any other adjectives?
Fortunately the mood was lightened by the following things inside:
Cos someone had to say it right?
You have no idea how much I LOVE buttons : )
Who wouldn't want these pieces in their bedroom!?
This one was Joe's find *warning, kinda nudity (not Joe)*
HAHA. Good for a laugh, not worth $10
Yum, Baltimore beer. I believe I drank a few of these later that day with Joe. Not the original ones from this crate, don't worry.
On the way home I had to stop on a ramp to let these babies cross the road safely:
The result of the day was 7 yard sales including 2 community yard sales and a high school fundraising sale, not counting the antique shop. So I will for sure get to my goal in no time. I also have about 6 friends who think I am a yard sale expert and want me to take them with me and teach them the ways. By NO MEANS am I an expert. I just love looking at other peoples junk! I bought 5 books for $2.50 and a red vintage clutch for $1. Hopefully it wont rain tomorrow so I can hit up a few in the morning.
Are you a yard sale nut like me? Care to challenge my goal? : )
