Because a lot of people inquired about this on Twitter...
Last night Joe and I went to Baltimore to see Manchester Orchestra at Rams Head Live. I WILL NOT link Rams Head cos it is the worst venue ever. First we parked in the parking garage that is attached to the venue. Paid $10 and drove up seven levels, the first four levels were reserved for valet. All the sudden we are at the top, i am sweating and nauseous, and there is no parking. Drive allll the way down to tell the guy there is no parking and he tells us to park on level 4. We ask for our money back, he says no. We drive to level 2, I get out and walk down cos I am freaking out, and I meet Joe outside the doors of the show.
Manchester Orchestra is already on, played half of or one and a half songs. If I missed my favorite song...that would really take the cake. Anyway....every one was talking and not paying attention. I've got 2 lost teenage kids mulling about next to me, one girl with a broken arm standing a little too close to me, girl jabbing me with her elbow from behind, and middle aged people who have seemingly never heard live music before drinking beers in front of me. I think Joe and I were the only fans there. So I am trying to create my dancing space and it is just not working. And the sound in that place is awful!
Manchester Orchestra was super and they played well so none of this disaster was cos of them. And I cant stress enough how much I love their new album "Mean Everything to Nothing" and the gorgeous videos they have posted for each of the songs (check them out on their site)
We didn't even stay to see the headlining band (Silversun Pickups...sorry Josh). While leaving the parking garage we tried to get our money back again and the non english speaking guy wasn't having it. He finally gave us a number to call and we eventually got our money back. We were both so done with it all.
I said on Twitter that this was even worse than the show where my car got broken into and they stole my beloved satellite radio. I was so crushed, cos I attribute satellite radio (and one very good friend :o) to aiding very heavily in my music taste.
I love going to shows! Chances are if you ask me to I will go to any show! Like the time my friend Laura and I almost went to a Mos Def show in a bad part of DC by ourselves. We opted for a much safer homer version of that dance party. BUT I will never go to that venue again. EVER
OK! so that's the most negative post I have ever made. And I don't blame you if you didn't read it or if you leave me a "get over it" comment. I feel like such an emo kid. haha
Here's a picture so you forgive me, this seriously cracks me up from fail.com
Anyway, HI GUYS! I missed you. I need to blog more!
August is going to be very exciting!
What have you been up to?
