Vanessa Explains It All

Hi!

Remember me? I have loads of wannabe post about my crafty fantastic weekend and plenty of stories and antics about how I embarrass myself in public.

Let's start with this one...

I went to a focus group thing last night for a developing community in downtown York. I introduced myself to someone and she said, "Oh, so is your husband on his way?" Or something of that matter. Everyone was listening, I have no shame, and I am pretty loud so I said, 

"Oh I heard that there is another family in York with the same last name as myself, but no, I am not related or married to them." 

I could have ended my comment there but I went a step further and said (totally awkwardly)...

..."WHY? is this a set up? Are you all (strangers) trying to set me up?!"

    (laughter amongst 20-25 people)

"Is this a; Vanessa-you've-been-single-for-too-long Intervention?!" 

    (more laughter cos I am so embarrassingly hilarious).

I sit down and a few minutes later we all have to introduce ourselves. My turn comes and of course my introduction to my introduction is "My name is Vanessa...we all know my dating status..." (more roaring laughter). The End.

To add to the awkwardness that I am completely oblivious of...I make another comment in the evening and say "BOOP" as an action verb, WITH hand gestures. I am pretty sure I will never live that down with a few of my friends who were also there.

Random, Spontaneous Texts

I love texting. I would say I text a lot but I have seen others numbers and mine is minuscule compared to many people I know. I particularly love when I spontaneously receive a text related to nothing at all and thusly making it all the more hilarious. Or when I get a question cos that friend knows I will know the answer to it. In the last week I have gotten some really great ones and I thought I would share them with you! Now, I won't tell you who sent them or what my response was, I will leave that to your imagination

• By the way, I have to say that I was only ever in a dollar store once before in my life and it amazes me all the things they have.

• Lies I tell you, the cake is a lie
• Who signs Harry Potter's form so he can go to Hogsmeade? (that was from a month ago)

Thank you to all of my friends who aren't afraid to text me random things any and all hours of the day. It's the little things that make me insanely happy. Now to just get my mom texting and I could have one of these posts each week. Or even my brother. Or if you'd like to text me something random it might make another list!

Family Visit

Almost two weeks ago, my mom and I went to visit my cousin in Philadelphia to meet her baby Willa (my new cousin, first of the new generation!).  My Aunt was also visiting, so it was good to have all the ladies of the family together.  

I love visiting them, they have the most inspirational house and I am in love with everything in it. Of course I didn't take many pictures.  But here are a few I took with my iPhone:

A Sweet Gift

One day, a few weeks ago, Mandi texted me asking if I liked to take shots.  I immediately thought "oh no, what does she have planned?!"  When she came to visit last week she gave me a gift and much to my surprise it was a lovely little shot glass set with a decanter.  I LOVE it!!

In addition to making notes on my phone I tend to make notes all over my apartment (especially when I am drinking). So for your entertainment I have gathered them all together and I am shamelessly going to post them all for you.  Almost like my own little Post Secret though not all of them are secret.  Here's a pic:
