The Creative Type Prompt #32

Hey hey! A new prompt is up at The Creative Type! Check out how we used monograms and play along, winner gets a chance to be our next guest designer! Everyone has a monogram/initials and I'm willing to bet you probably haven't scrapped about them. Here is my creation:

   

I know the picture is really light, but the whole page is light...it looks better in person. So I stuck with just my first initial cos otherwise my initials are VD haha. well VMD including my middle name. Anyway, I like my initial and I really love that people call me V, it's very endearing! And there is no picture on this one cos, well, I really need to get some printed. Whoops! I used some misting, gesso, sewing, stamping, and rub-ons though to make up for the lack of picture.

Do you have any special initial/monogram stories?
 

Creative Type #30

First thing is first, The Creative Type has moved to a new Ning site! It's pretty cool, you can load your stuff right to the site and join us for chats on the message boards as well as other things I am still discovering. Second thing: our new prompt is up and it is all about using your old stamps! I have only been scrapping for a few years so I don't have any foam stamps but I used a stamp I haven't used before instead. Now, I do have some foam stamps from my 4-H crafting days, but those never made the move into adulthood with me and are still at my moms house. Anyway...here is my page!

Creative Type #26

    There's a new prompt over at The Creative Type and it is all about using comic books to inspire you! 

    One of my best friend's weddings was this past Saturday and this picture is from that evening. I think we were told to look like we were going to hurt someone. I thought it was comic book approprite. I also used a Studio Calico stamp (the zig-zag circle) and threw in the words "bam" and "ka-pow" for some extra comic-like hilarity. The vintage bits are from my friend Judean, we did a Valentine swap over at ScrapGal and I was lucky enough to receive a box from her with delicious vintage sparkles and buttons!

Creative Type #25

This prompt was interesting because lately I haven't been using many embellishments yet the prompt was to incorporate font into our embellishments. Hmm. So I came up with this and then I realized it looks a lot like another page I've done though I tried to make all the "Ds" their own huge embellishment. And I have no clue where the urge to use orange came from. It's not my favorite page, but I was thinking about my old dog, Digby (Digs was one of his nicknames), and I was glad I had this picture waiting to be scrapped.

  

Do I ever scrap straight when I intend to? No.

Creative Type #22

New prompt up at The Creative Type and it is awesome!

I have to be honest, I didn't really push myself out of my box for this one and I wish I had. But I LOVE the page I made. I might make another page with this prompt in mind cos we certainly aren't limited to doing it only once!

The prompt was to use the artist Rob Ryan. If you haven't heard of him, his work is definitely worth checking out. Here are a few of my favorite things of his:

Yes that's me and Miss Mandi back when she visited me in May. I used a bit of her papers, more Japanese tape and of course more masking and misting. For the title I traced Cosmo Cricket's Boyfriend alphas and cut them out. If I tried to draw my own letters it would have been horrendous. The alphabet stamp is from Studio Calico and one of my favorite things right now.

The Creative Type Prompt #21

Check it out! It's all about "negative space" or what I call "white space."

And this is what I made:

 

Pretty simple. Also the first non scrapbooking layout like thing I have made. I just had this great piece of cardboard that did not need too much distressing and the need to get a strong feeling down on paper. Plus awesome Helvetica letters that Jeremy gave me. Since I had the idea in my head it took me about 5 minutes. the hardest part was figuring out if I was wanted to say "I Only Want You" or "I Want Only You" this was a huge predicament.

So I encourage you to play along with this prompt, especially if you are not a negative space kind of person!

The Creative Type Prompt #20!

Hey all! New, fun, and totally do-able challenge up today at The Creative Type.  It's all about masking! I know you Studio Calico ladies LOVE the Maya Mist (as do I!) so I encourage you to play along!

Here's my layout:

 

I stamped the word "little" and cut it out, then used temporary adhesive to place it where I wanted it on my cardstock before anything else was down.  Then I misted over it, took the letters off and stamped the letters in the white space.  I LOVE my mists so this prompt was a great first official DT challenge for me!

And I used a Studio Calico kit to boot!

I really hope you play along, this design team is so fabulous and inspiring!
